A particularly pretty example of the work of Nicole Barr whose designs are inspired by art and nature and crafted in silver with fine enamels.
The design is inspired by the work of architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh who worked at the turn of the last century, one of his most well-known designs being that of The Glasgow School of Art.
The highly skilled art of vitreous enamelling involves applying powdered glass to the surface of the silver and fusing them by firing at very high temperatures, to create a smooth durable glossy finish.
The brooch is vintage, of a very fine quality and good weight, in excellent condition, and measures 4cm in diameter, with a secure locking catch on the back.
Will be delivered in a Smithsonia gift box.
