What a lovely little sculpture of a very popular breed of dog in this country, the Dachshund. I know the cutest miniature one called Hettie!
It is easy to see why Michael's sculptures are so popular, he has a keen eye for the form and character of the animal he is modelling, be it wildlife or a Dachshund. Michael studied in Staffordshire and was inspired by the traditions of pottery in Stoke on Trent. As a result of this he sometimes works in clay for his initial modelling, unlike most bronze artists who always use wax.
This little dog is made from solid foundry bronze, with a hand finished patina.
He is a limited edition piece - one of 250.
