You can almost see this hare standing in the early morning light, surveying its surroundings for danger. It is a wonderful depiction of this handsome animal, created by artist Michael Simpson. Look at those ears!
It is easy to see why Michael's sculptures are so popular, he has a keen eye for the form and character of the animal he is modelling, be it a cute mouse or a Cockapoo. Michael studied in Staffordshire and was inspired by the traditions of pottery in Stoke on Trent. As a result of this he sometimes works in clay for his initial modelling, unlike most bronze artists who always use wax.
The hare is made from solid foundry bronze, with a hand finished patina.
This is a limited edition sculpture - number 149 of 200.
It stands 15cm tall and weighs approximately 0.6kG
