A beautiful dressing room accessory from an elegant bygone era. In those days it would probably have been used to store treasured small pieces of jewellery, cufflinks or coins at the end of the day. In modern times it could still be used in the same way.
This small round box is made from ebony, a precious black wood, with a sterling silver lid, hallmarked in London in 1920. The silver lid is screw threaded and delicately engraved. The box is stamped 'ebony' on the bottom.
This box would make a lovely gift for someone with a sense of style who likes things a little different - maybe for a special Birthday, a Christening, or an Anniversary.
It measures 3.6 cm by 5 cm and is in excellent condition.
