This cute vintage silver thimble was made in Birmingham by Henry Griffiths & Sons, and is the perfect size for a first thimble.
The earliest dated child's thimble comes from the 12th or 13th Century and was found near Salisbury.
This thimble is prettily decorated with a repeated dot and starflower design. It is in good condition and clearly stamped with the maker's name. It has obviously been treasured for many years. A lovely gift for a keen needle-person, or a collector of exquisite small objects.
It measures 1.8 cm tall, with an inner diameter of 1.4 cm.
It has been cleaned in a jewellers ultasonic bath to bring out the best of this mini work of art.
