I love antique silver! Just holding this spoon and trying to imagine who else has held it, when and where.
This antique silver spoon was hallmarked in London in 1818, that's over 200 years ago, by John & Henry Lias. This was during the reign of George III, the year Emily Bronte was born and Jane Austen's novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were published.
The spoon is in very good condition, was probably used as a sugar or jam spoon, and would be perfect to use as that again.
A lovely gift for someone who likes things a little different - maybe for a Christening, Engagement or Anniversary.
The spoon is 10.2 cm long and 2.8 cm at it's widest. It has very ornate letters engraved at the top, maybe GJ, but these could be taken as decoration.
