Attractive table accessories from an elegant bygone era. Salt cellars used to pay an important role on the dining table when salt was seen as an expensive commodity - the closer you sat to the salt cellar, the more important you were deemed by the head of the household! Salt is no longer a luxury, except perhaps Himalayan Pink, but these cute little objects are still popular.
Each pot is made from cut glass topped with a sterling silver rim. Both are in lovely condition with clear hallmarks.
They were hallmarked in London in 1921 by William Henry Sparrow. 1921, the year Charlie Chaplin visited London and was met by thousands of fans, King George V opened Southwark Bridge in London, there was a heatwave with temperatures in the 90s in some parts of South-East England, and a drought with no rain for 100 days.
A lovely gift for someone with a sense of style who likes things a little different - maybe for a special Birthday, a Christening, or an Anniversary.
They each measure 3 cm by 5 cm.
