Attractive table accessories from an elegant bygone era. Salt cellars used to pay an important role on the dining table when salt was seen as an expensive commodity - the closer you sat to the salt cellar, the more important you were deemed to be by the head of the household! Salt is no longer a luxury, except perhaps Himalayan Pink, but these cute little objects are still popular.
Each pot is made from cut glass topped with a high polished sterling silver rim. Both are in very good condition with clear hallmarks.
They were hallmarked in Birmingham in 1912 by William Henry Sparrow. This was the year that Lawrence Oates, a member of Scott's South pole expedition leaves the tent saying, "I am just going outside and may be some time". He is not seen again.
A lovely gift for someone with a sense of style who likes things a little different - maybe for a special Birthday, a Christening, or an Anniversary.
They each measure 3.2 cm by 5.5 cm.
