This sculpture of a Gloucester Old Spot pig captures her sniffing the air catching the scent of her next meal. A beautiful rendition with the classic large ears and twirly tail. This is possibly the best known pig breed in Britain, known to be docile and intelligent.
It is easy to see why Michael's sculptures are so popular, he has a keen eye for the form and character of the animal he is modelling, be it a cute mouse a Cockapoo or a fabulous Old Spot. Michael studied in Staffordshire and was inspired by the traditions of pottery in Stoke on Trent. As a result of this he sometimes works in clay for his initial modelling, unlike most bronze artists who always use wax.
The pig is made from solid foundry bronze, with a hand finished patina.
She is a limited edition piece - Number 70 of 150
She stands 9 cm tall & is 12.5 cm long & 5.6 cm deep
Each piece comes beautifully boxed with a certificate of authenticity. The certificate also includes information about the artist and the edition number .
