A beautiful dressing table accessory from an elegant bygone era. In those days it would probably have been used to store treasured small pieces of jewellery at the end of the day. In modern times it could still be used in the same way.
This small rectangular box is made from cut glass with a star cut in the bottom. The silver lid has a blank cartouche surrounded by intricate fleurs de lys style scrolls. In all, a lovely example of the style of the Victorian period. The silver was hall-marked in the London Assay Office in 1873 by Thomas Whitehouse.

This box would make a lovely gift for someone with a sense of style who likes things a little different - maybe for a special Birthday, a Christening, or an Anniversary.
It measures 8.9 cm long, 3.7 cm wide and 3.7 cm deep and is in excellent condition.
