1913, the year that unemployment and maternity benefits were introduced, Emmeline Pankhurst was sentenced to three years of penal servitude and Emily Davison, another suffragette, ran out in front of the King's horse at the Derby and died days later.
The thimble is in good condition with a lovely hallmark, treasured by someone for many years. A lovely gift for a keen needle-person, or a lover of exquisite small objects.
It measures 2.4 cm tall, with an inner diameter of 1.8 cm.
