This thimble is over 140 years old and yet looks quite contemporary. It was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1881, by James Fenton of Great Hampton St Birmingham.  

In 1881, during the reign of Queen Victoria, the Natural History Museum opened in London.

It is attractively decorated with a series of dots in the top half and an almost zip design at the bottom..

It is in excellent condition, with a clear hallmark, treasured by someone for many years.  A lovely gift for a keen needle-person, or a lover of exquisite small objects.

It measures 2.4 cm tall,  the inner diameter of the finger opening is 1.8 cm.
