Although brooches are so on trend at the moment, they have been worn for many years. This beauty has been around for 129 years and looks as good as new.

This attractive antique silver brooch was hallmarked in Chester in 1885.  Styles may have changed but it is easy to appreciate how pretty this one is with its delicate ivy leaf patterning. In the past ivy leaf jewellery was given as a gift to newlyweds to symbolise everlasting love and loyalty.

In really good condition for such an old lady, this would be a lovely meaningful gift to a vintage silver lover.

In 1885, during the reign of Queen Victoria, the first legal cremation in England took place, the first electrically powered Tramway openend in Blackpool and women were permitted to take the University of Oxford entrance examination for the first time.

The brooch is 3.5 cm long and 1.9 cm deep.

Will be delivered in a Smithsonia gift box.
