Hallmarked in Chester in 1903 and made by Henry Griffin & Son, this vesta case in a particularly beautiful example of the skill and artistry of the silversmiths of the day. It is in excellent condition, with very fine floral engraving front and back.. The hinged lid opens and closes easily and it has nice clear hallmarks inside.
It would make a lovely gift as an unusual birthday present, a silver anniversary present or a gift for someone with an interest in history.
It measures 4.5 by 4.5 cm and weighs 30.5g. It has a round silver ring to act as a bale soldered on one side, and a serrated strike plate on the base.
