This sculpture of a little calf, very sweetly looking upwards, is by artist Michael Simpson.
It is easy to see why Michael's sculptures are so popular, he has a keen eye for the form and character of the animal he is modelling, be it a cute calf or a Cockapoo. Michael studied in Staffordshire and was inspired by the traditions of pottery in Stoke on Trent. As a result of this he sometimes works in clay for his initial modelling, unlike most bronze artists who always use wax.
The little calf is made from solid foundry bronze, with a hand finished patina.
She is a limited edition piece - 97 of 150.
She stands 7 cm tall and is 9 cm long, and weighs about 205g.
