Designed by contemporary jeweller Nicole Barr, this sterling silver Sand Dollar pendant incorporates the ancient technique of enamelling with a little sparkly White Sapphire to create an exquisitely detailed depiction of this intriguing sea creature.

The highly skilled art of vitreous enamelling involves applying powdered glass to the surface of the silver and fusing them by firing at very high temperatures to create a smooth durable glossy finish.

In this pendant the enamel is applied to silver which has a low relief pattern, in a technique known as Basse Taille, which gives light and life its surface.

It is believed that white sapphires bestow love, prosperity and good fortune, and that Sand Dollars represent renewal, transformation, and the choosing of your own path in life.

The pendant has a total drop of 2.5 cm and is 2 cm wide. The silver is rhodium plated to ease cleaning.

It is presented on a quality 52.5 cm silver belcher chain with an ingenious silicon lined sliding ball to make it fully adjustable, so it may be worn at any shorter length.
