The stone is not actually related to rubies but gets its name from the word “rubrum” which is Latin for ‘red’. However, it is often used as a more reasonably priced stone for July birthdays.
Total length is 20.5 cm, but the catch can be attached at different points to make it shorter, as small as 19 cm. It is 0.7 cm at its widest and has a secure lobster catch.
