This sculpture of a hippo captures her in a more threatening pose than we sometimes see - look at the size of those jaws !
Designed by Michael Simpson who studied in Staffordshire and was inspired by the traditions of Stoke on Trent. As a result of this he works in clay for his initial modelling, unlike most bronze artists who use wax.
The hippo is made from solid foundry bronze, with a hand finished patina.
She is a limited edition piece - one of 150.
She stands 6.8cm tall - to the tip of her nose, is 8cm long, and weighs about 340g.
Each piece comes beautifully boxed with a certificate of authenticity. The certificate also includes information about the artist and the edition number .
