1919 was a year full of civil unrest across the country following the First World War. In June, The Treaty of Versailles was signed, formally ending the war.
The thimble is in good condition, there is a tiny, very fine, hole in the top and it has a clear hallmark. Treasured and used by someone for many years, it is a lovely gift for a keen needle-person, or a lover of exquisite small objects.
It measures 2.2 cm tall, with an inner diameter of 1.6 cm.
It has been cleaned in a jewellers ultrasonic bath to bring out the best of this mini work of art.
