A great find! The St Magnus design has been a part of the Ola Gorie Orkney collection for 50 years. The large pendant was hallmarked in Edinburgh in 1976. Someone has treasured it for years as it is in superb condition.
For years, Ola Gorie Jewellery have explored Celtic and Norse heritage to find inspiration for stylish, modern jewellery, hand crafted in Orkney. The St Magnus range is based on a stylised cross carved out of sandstone on St Magnus's Cathedral in Kirkwall. Ola lived opposite the cathedral and would gaze out at it most days.
Created in sterling silver, with a clear hallmark, this large pendant has a total drop of 5.5 cm and is 4 cm wide, weighing 16.2g. It is presented on its original 22 inch (55 cm) link chain.
